Gait Analysis
Gait analysis is a non-invasive diagnostic method for in-depth examination and assessment of the way we walk or run.
This complex analysis is best carried out by qualified podiatrists, who use their training in human biomechanics for making accurate assessments of your movement.
Our podiatrists have a special interest in sports podiatry and in some cases we need to use computer gait analysis a particularly useful tool for assessing running biomechanics.
Using digital video and computer software we can analyse your running style frame by frame. Biomechanical faults are more easily detected and this greatly assists in detecting any overuse sporting injury.
Once our podiatrists have assessed your walking or running pattern, they will then plan corrective treatment to iron out the biomechanical faults.
Treatment may include:
- Custom-made orthotics
- Footwear advice
- Strengthening & stretching exercises
- Technique & training advice.
Typical bio mechanical disorders we observe:
- Excessive pronation
- Over supination
- Ankle instability
- Pelvic tilt
- Poor shock absorption
- Leg length discrepancies
- Unusual walking / running patterns
When to see a Foot Matters Podiatry
Podiatrists have an important role to play in preventing and managing foot problems. Prompt action is important. Problems which are left without assessment or treatment may result in major health risks.
